Ascent to the Zugspitze (9782 ft.) across the Rein vally (Reintal)

For untrained climbers the only possibility to reach the Zugspitze is the way along the Rein valley. First you walk through the Partnach gorge (Partnachklamm). At its exit you continue to the right on the forest street to the Bock hut (Bockhütte); shortly farther after about 1 and a half hours you pass the small lake Blaue Gumpe. Then, you reach first the Reintalanger lodge (phone (08821) 2903) and afterwards the Knorr refuge (phone (08821) 2905), both serviced. Up to this hut you need about 8 hours. There is still 1 hour and a half to arrive at the restaurant Sonn-Alpin. A cable car runs from here to the mountain peak.
For the descent back to town you choose between the cogwheel train and the Eibsee cable car. No mountain guide is necessary to perform this tour, if you have hiking experience and the right equipment.
The way across the Höllental gorge (Höllentalklamm) instead (difficulty grade: difficult) requires climbing experience. It takes about 8 hours to the east summit starting in Hammersbach over the gorge, the Höllentalanger lodge, the "Brett".
